Catherine:

For decades as we commute back and forth to work drivers turn to our local

Catherine:

reporters on the radio to assist us.

Catherine:

The reporters know our local roads.

Catherine:

And wow.

Catherine:

Get this in some places around the world, traffic conditions are broadcast by the minute while

Catherine:

in other areas like mine, every 10 minutes in the mornings and in the evenings, but the hours

Catherine:

that are relevant to rush hour traffic times.

Catherine:

Traffic reporters can be our special friend, keeping us calm in the mornings or in the

evenings to help us get to work safely.

Here now is Débora Mendonça of Brasil.

Débora Mendonça:

Hello everybody.

Débora Mendonça:

Hi, Catherine.

Débora Mendonça:

Thanks for the invitation.

Débora Mendonça:

Your podcast is amazing because the world is very difficult full of bad news.

Débora Mendonça:

But when we pay attention, we also see very good things happening and it makes me

Débora Mendonça:

wonder if I am living my positive imprint.

Débora Mendonça:

As a journalist and broadcaster, I have a public responsibility and my most important

Débora Mendonça:

communication channel is my work on the radio.

Débora Mendonça:

I talk about stress and mobility, something needed in Sao Paulo with the 10th, most

Débora Mendonça:

populous metropolitan area in the world.

Débora Mendonça:

We spent an average of 45 minutes a day to get to work by car.

Débora Mendonça:

For many people who live in the suburbs and depend on public transport, we have several

Débora Mendonça:

transfers this time easily exceeds two hours, and can go up to three hours just to go.

Débora Mendonça:

This is because the city of Sao Paulo has a total area of just over 587 square miles.

Débora Mendonça:

If we talk about a metropolitan area, it is 3068 square miles.

Débora Mendonça:

As everywhere living close to the center is expansive.

Débora Mendonça:

I was one of the first reporters to fly over the city to talk about trafficking in the 90s.

Débora Mendonça:

Today

Débora Mendonça:

I work for a company with a large team that collect this traffic information from the sky

Débora Mendonça:

and the ground in the largest cities in Brazil.

Débora Mendonça:

We have reporters who like me, who speak live in the main radio station here.

Débora Mendonça:

I hope to make people sleep better with more time for themselves and their families based on the best

Débora Mendonça:

travel choice, not overestimating the crowds,, but remembering that for everything in life, there is

Débora Mendonça:

always a way out or a way to at least improve things.

Débora Mendonça:

Thanks again for the opportunity and keep leaving your positive imprints.

Traffic in places as São Paulo City is a daily challenge to drivers and people in their way to go, in general.
Débora Mendonça is really a special friend of her audience, helping with news of the best way to go and an alternative route if necessary.
