Mack Bailey, Music Therapist. How Music Rewires the Brain

Mack Bailey, legendary musician, singer, songwriter, and music therapist uses songwriting and music to rewire the brain.

Songwriting and music brought Mack from the brink of what he calls a time in his life where he found little hope.

Mack became fascinated with the brain and the use of music therapy to help heal people with PTSD. (Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome.) These studies as a certified music therapist started Mack on his journey to heal veterans who have PTSD.

Listen to Mack’s stories of his own struggles and how he rewired his brain through music and songwriting. Mack shares some of his music and incredible stories about veterans of whom he helped change their lives through his therapy program, Music Therapy of the Rockies.

Having known Mack for a few years now, I’ve been fortunate enough to both work with Mack professionally as well as having developed a strong friendship with he and his family. This guy is 100% authentic! His heart for helping others comes from a deep understanding of overcoming pain and adversity he’s experienced in his own life. I was privileged to work with Mack during one of his music therapy sessions with veterans and saw first hand the intimate nature of his approach to actually “healing” through music. His commitment to his therapy and those he heals is not only a thing of beauty but it is a unique form of therapy which empowers his participants to develop skills they can use long after the initial sessions. Music Therapy of the Rockies is a wonderful “healing” nonprofit well worth partnership and investment. Keep up the wonderful work Mack!

Catherine so enjoyed this podcast . I recently completed a music therapy of the Rockies retreat with Mack Bailey. It was a fabulous experience. Writing “my” song was such a healing experience. It was a great experience for me in another way, Gary the Vietnam Vet, you and Mack are referring to in this podcast was a very dear friend of mine, we had known each other for over 40 years. He had attended the retreat last year and I saw how it had helped him and he suggested that I attend. I was unable to attend his funeral because of Covid so I was able to get closure at this retreat it was a double healing process for me. Pam
